We had a lovely day for traveling. We should originally have flown from Manchester to Toronto and then transferred to get to Calgary. This was changed at a fairly late stage so that the transfer was at Heathrow. This had two advantages. You get the transfer over at an earlier stage so it's easier to relax. Also we were put in the stack over Heathrow and this produces some superb views of London. I could pick out Wembley Stadium which was good. However the final descent was better dropping down over the Thames and seeing Parliament and the Millennium Eye.

The transfer went smoothly and it wasn't long before we were boarding. The flight was late off because of the general level of traffic but thereafter went well. We were well towards the back of the plane where there are fewer seats across and so there is more room.

On arriving in Calgary, we had to phone for the shuttle to the Radisson Hotel but again there were no problems. We were tired so I was glad that we were staying there for the night rather than picking up the car and driving to Banff straightaway. The hotel was comfortable. We had a couple of drinks in the bar where I sampled the products of the Big Rock microbrewery (click on a label for their web site)
